I almost forgot to mention the important church found in the heart of Lefkara! The Church of the Holy Cross was built in the mid-nineteenth century, replacing the remains of a Byzantine church.The beautiful wall paintings and richly gilded iconostasis present similar representations of Greek Orthodox church interiors found across the island. This church is believed to have a remaining fragment of the True Cross.
